As the former Vice President and Chief Architect for Motorola Solutions, Mario led the advanced development of major technology innovations that kept Motorola as the leader in international government and public safety ICT markets.   During his career at Motorola, he was responsible for designing many first-of-their-kind  solutions. He was a key architect of the Motorola proprietary ASTRO technology which was one of the earliest digital radio standards, predating digital cellular standards, and which became the basis for the P25 Land Mobile Radio Standard  which continues to be used internationally by public safety agencies today.  He led the architecture development for the first fully Internet Protocol-based infrastructure to be used for a mobile wide area wireless network supporting both voice and data communications.  His Advanced Architecture Team developed mission critical services over 3G/4G/5G cellular networks and introduced cloud-based software services that brought critical mobile intelligence to public safety first responders and Next Generation 911 dispatchers.  

He has served on numerous industry forums, including the Board of Directors of the Telecommunication Industry Association (TIA), the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) Task Force for Next Generation 911, and has provided support to the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC).

Mario also served on the highly recognized Motorola Corporate Venture Capital investment board, where he developed the strategy for identifying investment targets, and the post-investment strategic support processes that led to successful exits through internal or third-party acquisitions.

He holds 33 issued US patents and was a three time recipient of Motorola’s Patent-of-the-Year Award for the Commercial, Government, Industrial and Enterprise Mobility businesses.  Mario is also a registered patent agent with the USPTO, helping startups perform advanced inventing to identify and protect their intellectual property.
